April’s lifelong passion for teaching movement evolves from her early years as a professional dancer after receiving her BA in Dance from Butler University. Her innate desire to help others move with freedom, gain self-awareness and access inner peace has been the catalyst for 25 years of teaching experience. April has pioneered dance, yoga and qigong classes in recreational facilities, health clubs, private studios, and wellness centers in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago. April is a Lee Holden Certified Qigong Instructor, a Certified Yin Yoga Instructor and Meditation Teacher. April creates a nurturing environment where all feel welcome and at ease.

Qigong is a wonderful mind/body exercise form originating in China over 5,000 years ago. Practiced by millions of people around the world, qigong is considered the ultimate energy workout. By combining gentle stretches, strengthening postures, and flowing movements, qigong opens the body’s energy system in a therapeutic way. The word “qi” ( pronounced chi ) means life force and “gong” means to work skillfully with. Qigong practice teaches one how to work with energy in six different ways; cultivating, circulating, clearing old energy, exchanging, transforming, and storing in the center. Qigong movements mirror the movements of nature, especially the fluidity of water. Combined with breathing techniques, qigong releases stress, boosts the immune system, respiratory and cardiovascular systems, and increases the body’s innate healing potential. It’s a great choice for anyone looking to increase overall wellness and find more energy and joy in life.

Sunday, May 17th 1:00PM-3:00PM

Explore movement, bathe in sound and relax into stillness with this combination of Qigong and Sound Bath. We will begin by connecting to the energy of the earth and getting grounded. Then progress to a standing active qigong practice which consists of warm up stretches and flowing movements synchronized with the breath to activate and circulate chi. Once energized and in “the flow state” we will return to the earth and settle into relaxation while being bathed in the sounds of singing bowls and gongs, allowing chi to move freely creating a more harmonious inner landscape.
This class is facilitated by Certified Qigong Practitioner; April Day Epstein and Certified Sound Bath Practitioner Diana Osberg.
